What are the things that REALLY MATTER in your classroom

Dear Friends,

I have established this blog as a community to share our thoughts about what we do best, "Prepare our children to make a world better than the one they live in now."

Please Share your "Big Things" on the comments section. Click on the pencil or the comments section by the pencil.

All the best,

Chris

It's time to get out of the boat!

Many of you are familiar with the Bible Story of
Peter "getting out of the boat" to greet Jesus on the water.
My major theme for the opening of school and our school year is, "It's time to get out of the boat!"
It is time to get out of the boat! We can't stay in our safe zone, in the boat if you will, our whole lives and reach our highest potential.
Out on the waves lie gifts yet to be discovered and talents you thought you never had.
Don't die with your treasure still buried. Step out of that boat!
It will be hard, but you have to have faith that you can do it!

Welcome to The JYJ Staff Page

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our Staff Blog Page. As many of you know, we are facing a budget storm the likes of which have never been seen in our state. To date we have lost 10 teaching positions and 3 Teacher Assistant positions (taking us down to 6 TA's). I am fighting every day to get as many positions back as I can, but we will have to do business a different way next year.

Still, due to the tremendous staff we have, I am looking forward to the best year in the history of our school! Our school has been nominated for the prestigious Panasonic School Change Award and we are going through our first IB Re-Authorization this year.

As you have often heard me say, the waves go in and the waves go out. It is a time where, like the lighthouse pictured above, our parents and students look to us for leadership and comfort in a stormy sea. It is time for us to bow up against the storm and shine together, for no crisis, no matter how dire, can break the tremendous spirit of our staff and our school.

All the best,

Chris
